Survivin (Apoptosis inhibitor survivin) is a component of the chromosomal passenger complex (CPC), a key regulator of mitosis. The CPC complex has essential functions at the centromere in ensuring correct chromosome alignment and segregation. CPC is required for chromatin-induced microtubule stabilization and spindle assembly. Survivin interacts with tubulin and inhibits caspase-3 and caspase-7. Survivin is abundantly expressed in adenocarcinoma and high-grade lymphomas.
